What the numbers say before you lie down

Most relaxation tools ask something of you — focus here, breathe like this, clear your mind. Sensate works differently.

Low-frequency vibrations travel through your chest bone while synchronized soundscapes play through your headphones, signalling your nervous system to shift from high-alert to rest. In a study, it produced brain activity measurably similar to long-term meditators. In ten minutes. Without any practice.

In a study, a single 10-minute session produced brain activity measurably similar to that of long-term meditators — the state experienced practitioners take years to train.

HOW IT WORKS

Sound you feel. Sound you hear. Working together.

  1. Sensate 2

    Place on your sternum.

Lie down or use the lanyard and rest Sensate on your breastbone. This positions the device on the body's natural resonance chamber — your thoracic cavity — where bone conduction carries the signal deepest.

  2. Sensate 2

    Put your headphones on.

The device and app work as a single synchronized composition — infrasound felt through your chest, soundscapes heard through your headphones. Both frequencies are engineered to work together. Neither works as well alone.

  3. Sensate infrasound device with application interface, which also displays soundscapes of the platform.

    Open the app. Press Play.

Choose a session in the Sensate app — from 10 to 30 minutes. The app's soundscapes are precisely synchronized with the device's vibrations. In a study, this combination produced brain activity measurably similar to long-term meditators.

Not all sounds are created equal. Sensate’s mix of low-frequency vibrations and soundscapes are designed to send a powerful signal throughout the body.

Sensate is a patented sensory device designed to calm your nervous system in as little as 10 minutes. It uses patented Infrasonic Resonance to send calming signals through your sternum directly to your Vagus Nerve—the superhighway of your nervous system.

Sensate taps into the phenomenon of bone conduction. Your chest resonates sound, sending out a frequency that signals the vagus nerve to relax. The vibrations travel through your body, relaxing your nervous system. It's why cats purr. With Sensate on your chest, the comforting hum is intended to engage your ancient instincts of safety and relaxation.

The variable you haven’t isolated yet

You’ve optimized everything except the brake

Cold plunge, zone 2, no alcohol — and the trend line still won’t move. The missing input may be vagal tone. Ten minutes a day of low-frequency sound resonance on your sternum. Not electricity. Sound.

HRV is substantially a readout of vagal activity — the parasympathetic brake on your autonomic nervous system. Training load, sleep hygiene and alcohol all matter, but if vagal tone is the limiting variable, no amount of zone 2 will move it.

Most tools in this category try to activate the vagus nerve with electrical current. Sensate takes a different route: sound resonance, delivered acoustically through the sternum — bone conduction turning your ribcage into the transducer.

One input, ten minutes, daily. Then watch your own data. The device emits low-frequency sonic vibration against the sternum. Bone conduction carries that resonance through the chest, where the vagus nerve’s afferent pathways respond to the signal — helping tone the nerve and shift autonomic balance toward parasympathetic.

Sensate isn't a tracker. It has no sensors and the app records nothing — bring your own device and judge us against your own baseline. Whatever you already wear — Oura, Whoop, Apple Watch, Garmin — is holding months of your data. That's your control.

One 10-minute session daily — same time each day for a clean signal. Review your morning readiness and HRV trend after 28 days. Your device keeps score, not us.

For the 3AM ceiling-starers

Awake at 3AM again?

That tired-but-wired feeling is a nervous system on high alert. Sensate helps it stand down — ten minutes on your chest before bed (or when you wake up WAY too early.)

It may never have been a sleep problem

The melatonin, the magnesium, the sleep tea, the white noise machine — the whole nightstand. If they only helped a little, there’s a reason: they were aimed at sleep, and sleep was never the root of it. That’s what Sensate is built to do.

A purring cat, engineered

A cat’s purr vibrates at frequencies that naturally settle the human nervous system — it’s why a purring cat on your chest feels so deeply safe. Used before bed (or at 3AM, when you need it most), it guides your body from high alert back to genuinely sleepy.

Three moves, then sleep

  • Get into bed a little before lights-out — or use it when you wake in the night.
  • Press play in the free app. The gentle hum does the rest.
  • Ten minutes, and your body remembers how to be sleepy.

I’ve tried everything for sleep. Why would this be different?

Because it isn’t a sleep aid. Sleep aids target sleep; Sensate helps calm the nervous system that’s keeping you alert in the first place. When your body leaves high-alert mode, sleep tends to take care of itself — pilot study users gained 45–60 minutes a night.

Tonight could go differently. Ten minutes on your chest before bed. Up to an hour more sleep a night.

For everyone who deleted the app

You didn’t fail meditation

Your brain wouldn’t cooperate — that was never a you-problem. Sensate calms the body first, so the mind follows. No focusing. No failing.

Meditation asked for the one thing stress takes away

Focus. Stillness. A quiet mind. Meditation apps ask you to bring the very things a stressed nervous system can’t supply — then leave you feeling like you’re the one who couldn’t keep up. Here’s the reframe: a racing mind is a symptom of a body on high alert. Calm the body, and the mind quiets on its own — no concentration required.

The benefits of meditation, without the meditating

In a study, a single 10-minute session produced brain activity measurably similar to that of long-term meditators. There is nothing to focus on, nothing to clear, and no streak to break. It works even when you don’t. Especially when you don’t. That’s the design.

0 Minutes of focus, breathwork or mental effort required

Sofa, bed, floor. Enthusiasm optional. Press play in the free app, headphones on. Ten minutes later you’re calmer. You did nothing. It worked anyway.

Decades of practice, compressed into lying on your sofa.

Real people. Real experiences.

  • Great product, excellent customer support

I've been using the Sensate for about a week and it has become a welcome part of my daily routine. My wife was the early adopter in the family and after using hers, I decided to get my own. The customer support team was great and confirmed that my wife and I could share my Plus subscription.

  • Better than I had even hoped for

The experience of using Sensate has been better than I had even hoped for. Have not slept as well for very many years and feel relaxed during the day.

    Jon E, London, UK.

  • Best sleep in months

I've had the best, longest sleep in months since I started using Sensate. I find it very relaxing and it has increased my deep slow wave sleep by about 20 minutes a night.

  • Well worth it

The most obvious benefit so far has been an improvement in my sleep in length and quality — around an extra hour a night, verified by my Fitbit. I wake feeling more rested and less tired during the day. Would I recommend Sensate? Based on my experience so far, I most certainly would.

  • Better Sleep and Lower Stress with Sensate

I have been using Sensate regularly for a couple of weeks now, and it has quickly become part of my daily routine. I usually go with a 10-minute relaxation session, which feels like a cross between meditation and deep relaxation. I did not have any problems with sleep before, but according to my Oura Ring, it has still improved. My average sleep score used to be around 91, and now it is often between 94 and 96. My stress levels also drop immediately after a session and appear to remain lower throughout the day.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is the vagus nerve thing real or just marketing?

Sensate doesn't electrically stimulate the vagus nerve — and it's important we're clear about that. What it does do is deliver low-frequency sound vibration through your sternum, which reaches vagal nerve branches in the thoracic cavity through a mechanism called acoustic vagal nerve stimulation (aVNS). Your body's mechanoreceptors detect the pressure, and your parasympathetic nervous system responds. It's non-electrical, and it's grounded in published acoustic and vibroacoustic research going back to the 1980s.

How is Sensate different from Vagus Nerve Stimulation Devices?

Other devices use electrical current delivered through the skin — tVNS (transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation). Sensate uses sound waves only — no current, no electrodes. This makes it suitable for people who are sensitive to electrical stimulation, and means there's no requirement for skin contact in the way electrical devices require. The mechanism is completely different.

How does Sensate work?

Sensate uses low-frequency sound waves and audio Soundscapes designed to tone your vagus nerve, helping to regulate your nervous system.

Can Sensate help with sleep issues?

Yes, many users report improved sleep. Our pilot study showed an increase of 45-60 extra minutes of sleep per night, on average, and decreased the time to fall asleep by 50%.

How long does it take to see results?

Many users feel immediate effects. Our study showed a 48% decrease in stress levels within the first 28 days of regular use.

Do I need to pay for the app?

No. Daily sessions run on the free app, and Plus is only there if you want more soundscapes to choose from.

I don’t have time for another wellness routine.

That’s exactly who Sensate is for. One ten-minute session — lying down, doing nothing — replaces the practice you never had time to build. Most people use it right after work or just before bed.

Is this vagus nerve stimulation?

No — and the distinction matters. Electrical stimulation devices drive the nerve with current. Sensate uses low-frequency sonic resonance through the sternum to help tone the vagus nerve — a gentle, non-invasive acoustic signal rather than electricity.

Will it move my HRV?

Individual results vary, which is why we publish study data rather than promises: 48% stress reduction over 28 days in a research study, and sleep gains in pilots. Sensate has no sensors, and the app doesn't record biometrics. It's the intervention, not the measurement. Keep using whatever you already trust, and hold Sensate to your own numbers. Run it against your own baseline — you have 90 days to test it, full refund if the data doesn’t convince you.

What's your shipping policy?

Yes, worldwide. Processing times, delivery window and customs duties are spelled out in Shipping and returns above.

What's your return policy?

Yes, you have 90 days. The refund terms and who pays for return shipping are in Shipping and returns above.
